Spring Awakening: Restoration and Preparation for Brighter Days
Last week, I had the opportunity to host a Spring Awakening Workshop here in Denver. It was an evening centered around nervous system regulation, restorative yoga, mindfulness, and emotional healing for women navigating stress, burnout, anxiety, and overwhelm.
As both a yoga instructor and therapist, creating spaces like this feels deeply personal to me. The workshop was inspired by my own experiences moving through seasons of exhaustion, disconnection, and survival mode, and by the growing number of women I meet who are craving rest, grounding, and genuine connection in a world that rarely slows down.
The evening became a powerful reminder that so many women are carrying more than they realize.
And perhaps even more importantly: so many women are longing for permission to soften.
Why I Created This Workshop
The intention behind Spring Awakening was to create a space where women could step away from the constant pressure to produce, perform, and push through. Instead, we made space to reconnect with ourselves through mindfulness, gentle movement, breathwork, reflection, and community.
Many women are living with symptoms of nervous system dysregulation without fully recognizing it. Chronic stress can show up as:
Anxiety and racing thoughts
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Difficulty resting
Feeling disconnected from the body
Chronic tension and overwhelm
Feeling emotionally reactive or constantly “on”
This workshop was designed to support women in slowing down long enough to notice what their bodies and minds have been asking for all along.
A Night Focused on Nervous System Healing
We began the evening with a guided grounding meditation focused on seasonal renewal and the idea that growth does not have to be rushed.
Participants were invited to reflect on:
What they were ready to leave behind
What they wanted to cultivate moving into summer
Where they were craving more joy, presence, connection, or ease
One of the most meaningful themes throughout the night was the reminder that healing is not linear, and neither is growth.
Throughout the workshop, we moved through restorative and mindful postures including Supported Child’s Pose, Half Pigeon, Legs Up the Wall, Supine Twist, and grounding breathwork practices designed to calm the nervous system and reconnect participants with their bodies.
Affirmations woven throughout the class included:
May I trust my own timing
May I soften into growth instead of forcing it
I deserve care, joy, and softness
New beginnings can be gentle
The room held such a tangible sense of exhale.
The Importance of Women’s Wellness Spaces
One of the most beautiful parts of the evening was witnessing how deeply women crave authentic community and spaces where they can simply be human.
So often, women are praised for how much they can carry, but they are rarely given opportunities to put those things down.
The journaling and group reflection portion of the workshop opened conversations around burnout, self-worth, emotional healing, boundaries, joy, and the desire to feel more present in everyday life.
There was laughter.
There were tears.
There was softness.
There was honesty.
There were chocolate chip sourdough cookies, my speciality!
Why Nervous System Regulation Matters
Nervous system healing is becoming an increasingly important conversation in both the mental health and wellness spaces. Regulating is especially important for women balancing careers, relationships, caregiving, personal growth, and the constant stimulation of modern life.
Practices like restorative yoga, mindfulness meditation, intentional breathwork, and body awareness can help support:
Stress reduction
Emotional regulation
Improved mind-body connection
Trauma recovery support
Better sleep and relaxation
Increased feelings of grounding and safety
The goal is not perfection or constant calm, but learning how to come back to yourself with more compassion and awareness.
Leaving the Evening With Intention
We closed the workshop by sharing how we want to feel throughout the summer, and what we will do to get there. We also took some time to talk, connect, and share genuine excitement about how we can be a little lighter this season.

And to anyone reading this who feels overwhelmed, depleted, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode: your body is not failing you. It may simply be asking for rest, support, slowness, and care.
You are allowed to bloom slowly.
